Cambodian Agriculture Overview
Depending on water from the rainy season most families are limited in their agriculture cultivation to one season, growing only one crop of rice per year, which does not produce enough to support their family. The pump wells or pull pump wells that Trailblazer Foundation installs provides villagers with enough water to use for irrigation of vegetables and fruits during the dry season, or year-round, thereby reducing the effects of drought.

Livestock

Owning livestock raises a rural farmer two levels of poverty, from poorest of the poor to poor, according to World Bank statistics. The financial ability to purchase cows or pigs for many farmers is often limited, especially in areas where the average wage is only $.25 USD per day, or less than $2 USD per week.

Fishfarm

Fish farms are a very popular and low cost program with the villagers and one they are very excited about. Fish fingerlings can be purchased at a local fishery at 50 fingerlings for 1$ USD.

Irrigation

Many people we are working with now have access to water, education and vocational training opportunities, but their food supply remains tenuous, and they often subsist for several months of the year on food with inadequate nutritional value.
