Fish Farm Facts
Trailblazer Foundation donates funds for the initial stock of fish [450 fingerlings] for a farmer's fish farm, and also assists with the organization of instructing villagers on sustainable techniques and maintenance.

Trailblazer helps the village establish an Agriculture Committee to manage this program, select individuals to participate and distribute education materials on fish farming practices.

Oral tests are given to ensure those individuals have a sufficient level of understanding to make the program successful. Fish can be used to supplement food shortfalls in the dry season or sold by the fish farmers for profit.

Livestock

Owning livestock raises a rural farmer two levels of poverty, from poorest of the poor to poor, according to World Bank statistics. The financial ability to purchase cows or pigs for many farmers is often limited, especially in areas where the average wage is only $.25 USD per day, or less than $2 USD per week.
Irrigation

Irrigation

Many people we are working with now have access to water, education and vocational training opportunities, but their food supply remains tenuous, and they often subsist for several months of the year on food with inadequate nutritional value.
