School Food Program

The Sras Primary School Food Program began in the spring of 2006 with the entrepreneurial motivation of a Sras Village widow, Peni. Peni was making a basic noodle soup and serving the students of Sras Primary School.

Because of her initiative Trailblazer granted additional equipment to help her endeavors. Trailblazer also informed the World Food Program (WFP) of Peni's activities and WFP sent a representative to visit her school food program to investigate if the program qualified for WFP support.

In order for a school to qualify for WFP support, it must:

  • be a government school
  • have access to a water source
  • have individuals with ability and skill to prepare and serve the food
  • have the necessary cooking and serving equipment

The Sras Primary School Food Program qualified for and was included in the World Food Program support list in June 2006. Vegetable seeds, canned fish, legumes, and rice supplied by the WFP augments the nutritional value of the breakfasts being served by the School Food Lady.

Additionally, because the schools we construct are government supported, they can also qualify for World Food Program support.

Our Small Business Projects

Well Drilling & Repair

Trailblazer Foundation made an agreement with a local well driller who apprenticed two designated villagers in the skills of well drilling and repair. and paid their salary of 25$ USD per month for two months. These villagers stayed on as employees for another five months, gaining in their skills and knowledge. The long term objective is to provide these trainees with the necessary equipment and materials to set up their own business for drilling and repair of wells.

Tailoring & Sewing

In 2006, World Vision and Society for Orphan Support, an organization in Phnom Penh, donated sewing machines for the Sras Village tailoring shop project. The village selected individuals to receive these machines. Chanry's was placed in charge of teaching sewing to future seamstresses.

Beauty Shop

Trailblazer’s first vocational assistance to young woman interested in cosmetology began with two potentially at-risk young women from Sras Village. After completing the course Trailblazer partnered to provide all the equipment for their new shop.
