Pump wells in Sras Village

Pump wells are greatly needed in the countryside. Most villagers use and transport water from long distances from deep holes in the ground. Wells can be drilled and constructed at an average cost of $100 USD per well. Pump well construction is best done in April, May and June when the dry season is at its peak and drilling ensures the depth for a year round water supply.

It is our goal that one in every 3 to 5 families in rural villages are provided a pump well as a consistent source of water, and water filters to ensure the water is potable. Trailblazer Foundation has been installing pump wells in strategic locations throughout Sras Village [our pilot village] since 2005 and plans to extend its operations into four additional villages over the next five years.
